Madden Notification Channels
Every event channel, test workflow, baseline behavior, mentions, and troubleshooting.
Open notification settings
In the Madden league, open Administration → Discord with Edit League/Admin permission.
Watch the Discord notifications tutorial.

- Pick’em Results Channel: automatic results for the previous week’s Pick’em, posted each time the league advances.
- Weekly Recap Channel: an AI-generated recap of the week’s games, posted automatically once the week’s stats finish importing. Requires AI generation to be configured for your league.

Trade Pending, Approved, and Denied channels plus the mention role live under Administration → Trade Settings.
Position-change request channels and the optional pending-request mention role are configured under Administration → Position Changes. Pending requests include approve/deny buttons for members with Edit League/Admin permission; the final result is posted to the configured outcome channel.
Other Discord settings
- Auto-post Power Rankings on Advance: sends rankings immediately after advance. Leave off if commissioners edit ranks first.
- Discord Time Zone: converts displayed event times in Discord.
- Default Game Channel/Thread Message: initial message for created matchup spaces.
Configure a channel
- Create or choose a dedicated Discord channel.
- Confirm the bot can view/send/embed there.
- Select it in NeonSportz.
- Save the field.
- Choose Test.
- Confirm the test arrives in the exact channel.
- Repeat for every event type in use.
Do not assume one successful channel proves access to other private channels.
How import notifications are generated
Many Madden notifications depend on a before/after comparison:
- Import team rosters and free agents at least once during every Madden week, before advancing, to establish that week’s baseline.
- Madden data changes.
- A later roster/league/schedule import detects the difference.
- NeonSportz queues the Discord notification.
- The bot posts to the configured channel.
For transaction notifications specifically, the current roster import is compared with player history from the immediately previous Madden week. If that previous-week import is missing, NeonSportz cannot reconstruct the signings, releases, or trades that occurred, so those events will not be sent to Discord. Importing the missing data later does not recreate a baseline that was never captured.
When /import rosters finds no previous-week baseline, its success reply includes this warning and reminds the commissioner to run the command before advancing each week.
Notification did not arrive
- Confirm the event actually appears on NeonSportz.
- Confirm the correct import ran after the change.
- Confirm that event’s exact channel is configured.
- Run its test.
- Confirm the channel was not deleted/recreated; a recreated channel has a new ID.
- Confirm bot permissions.
- Inspect Discord Errors Channel.
- Confirm team rosters and free agents were imported during the immediately previous Madden week; without that baseline, transaction events cannot be detected.
Duplicate notifications
NeonSportz deduplicates identical outgoing payloads, but repeated distinct imports/changes can create multiple events. Avoid running overlapping imports while investigating.
Mentions
Trade settings can select a role to mention on pending trades. The bot must be able to mention that role under Discord configuration. Avoid using broad mentions unless league policy requires them.
